Posted on 04/07/2020

Joel Isadore Dumont, 75, of Cabot, formerly of Cecil Township, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, April 4, 2020, in Good Samaritan Hospice. He was born April 18, 1944, in Nieuwpoort, Belgium, a fishing port on the North shore, a son of the late Jean and Elise Sandyck Dumont.

Joel had been a cadet at the Royal Military Academy in Brussels and was selected to attend the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Md. He graduated in 1967 and was commissioned into the Belgian Navy on the support ship Zinnia. A graduate of the University of Maryland, Joel retired from Alcoa as a fire protection engineer, where he traveled the world for 35 years.

He loved his beautiful 20 acres in Cecil and his John Deere tractor. Joel enjoyed sailing on the Chesapeake Bay in a sailboat he restored, reading, and cutting and splitting wood.

On June 10, 1967, he married Janice A. Radzai, who survives after 53 years of marriage. Also left behind to cherish his memory are his daughter, Jillian Falbo and her husband, Michael of Freeport; and his grandchildren, Dominic and Sophia Falbo.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all services and interment in Queen of Heaven Cemetery, Peters Township, will be private and at the convenience of the family. All funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Salandra Funeral and Cremation Services, Inc., Joseph P. Salandra, owner / supervisor, 304 West Pike Street, Canonsburg, 724-745-8120.
